Our Story

Tree for Mercy Foundation (TFMF)

TFMF Community Work - Tree planting initiative
20 Years of Experience

Tree for Mercy Foundation (Guarantee) Limited is a not-for-profit environmental initiative restoring ecosystems, supporting rural livelihoods, and promoting sustainable agriculture across Sri Lanka.

Founded by Hilru M. Siddeeque and supported by Citigardens — Technology for Green Growth, TFMF works with government agencies, private nurseries, and local communities to implement high-impact tree planting and water-access programs. We have distributed 100,000+ plants, constructed 285+ community wells, and launched major initiatives such as the Coconut Boom Campaign, 10,000 Jackfruit Program in Musali, and rootballed tree planting for rapid urban greening.

Our transparent cost-plus model ensures responsible donor participation while supporting long-term maintenance by planters and caretakers. With a vision to plant one tree per person in Sri Lanka — 22 million trees annually, TFMF is building a greener and more sustainable future for all.
